A newspaper about www.birdkeeper.dk

Notice of 05.05.2012

Having parrots as a hobby can lead to a lot. I experienced this again after Ekstra Bladet, one of Denmark's largest daily newspapers, contacted me to find out more about keeping parrots as a hobby. Every Saturday, Ekstra Bladet published a magazine supplement, "EKSTRA", together with the newspaper, which, among other things, focused on various private individuals' hobbies. One of the newspaper's journalists had spotted a possible little story about keeping parrots as a hobby after visiting my website www.birdkeeper.dk.

In continuation of this, I got a very surprising inquiry from the journalist about whether I was interested in taking part in a small personal interview and showing off some of my birds. Since I have had some even very great experiences with this wonderful hobby throughout almost my entire life, I did not hesitate to say yes to participating.

In this way, I might also be able to help agitate for our wonderful hobby in the hope that new interested parties will join in these years, when the cage bird hobby – similar to e.g. philately - unfortunately struggles with declining membership and probably today primarily is practiced among the older part of the population.

A short newspaper article appeared under the heading "Parrots are life-affirming", which one could read in the magazine supplement to Ekstra Bladet on Saturday, 5th May 2012, so yes - keeping parrots - has once again been shown to lead to much.

The article, which was also accompanied by a series of superb photos by one of the newspaper's most talented photographers, Jan Unger, can be seen below.

Below is an excerpt of the photos that Ekstra Bladet's photographer Jan Unger took during his visit to me:
